Well known for his spirit mask compositions, Tiulana achieves an ever higher lever of detail and intricacy with this double hawk carving. Contained within his usual double ring format are stylized hawk heads and wings as well as full bird forms. The decorative detailing is done with scrimshaw and the piece is mounted on a whalebone base.
